Meet Our DoctorSeth Matton, DMD, MDDr. Matton is both a physician and a dentist who offers a full range of oral surgery and implant procedures, as well as anesthesia options from conscious to deep IV sedation in his office. Dr. Matton treats anyone from young patients to older patients with complex medical conditions. While in high school Dr. Matton enlisted in the United States Army National Guard as a means to serve his country and to aid in paying for his college education. Shortly after graduation, he completed Army Basic Training in Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. While on reserve duty for his unit in Connecticut, Dr. Matton attended the University of Connecticut where he received a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and a master’s degree in Cell Biology before matriculating into the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school he received several scholarships for academic achievement and clinical skill. Dr. Matton was also heavily involved in community service providing medical and dental care to underserved communities as part of the Urban Service Tract, as well as participated in biomedical research leading to a publication characterizing the effects of growth factors on the regeneration of bone. After graduating with his dental degree, he advanced to his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. During his 6-year residency, he obtained his MD from Stony Brook University School of Medicine as well as completed an internship in General Surgery at Stony Brook Medical Center, which is a level 1 trauma center for pediatrics and adults. Dr. Matton is trained in full-scope maxillofacial surgery including intravenous anesthesia, wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bone grafting, and complex reconstructions. In particular, he received an extensive education in all features of dental implant treatment including both hard and soft tissue treatments, with the understanding that success of an implant goes beyond just osteointegration. Dr. Matton has worked in private practice for the past 3 years prior to joining East Lyme Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He provides general anesthesia in his office for all types of patients, including medically complex patients. |
